Nokia E71 is the latest Nokia E-Series Smart phones to release in the US markets.  The new Smart phone which is just 10 millimeters thick is being presented as the slimmest Smart phones in the market.

The Nokia E71 is designed ” to deliver a superior mobile experience” and has a whole array of features to attract the buyers.

The sleek and stylish stainless steel design of the exterior is equally matched by its advanced features.  The phone comes with a full QWERTY key pad, a quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA connectivity.  The phone runs on Symbian 9.2 S60 3rd Edition.

The Nokia E71 comes with built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, Nokia Maps, advanced e mail capabilities, Push to Talk, Office applications, Music and Video Players and FM radio among its many features.

The phone has a QVGA TFT display with 16 million colors and a 3.2 Mega pixel camera with auto focus, flash and video recording. 

Nokia E71 boasts of being ” a stylish and powerful way” to balance both personal and professional lives with features and looks to match both the aspects.

Currently the phone would be available only in a grey color version, but the year-end may see a white version of the phone in the markets.

Panasonic Mirror II:  Latest Mobile Designed to Impress

Panasonic Mirror II is the latest mobile from the leading Japanese electronics manufacturer Panasonic and it will be released through SoftBank in Japan. It is a phone designed to impress the users.The clam shell phone comes with a very glamorous and attractive external case.  Panasonic proves that changing colors can be very impressive, in a mobile phone only, of course.  The phone changes colors from purple to yellow golden depending on the viewing angle.

The advanced features in the phone match the unique looks of the phone.  The Panasonic Mirror II comes with a 3 inch TFT internal display with 240 x 427 pixels resolution and 260K colors as also an external display with 96 x 25 pixels resolution.

The other interesting features of the phone include Mobile TV, internal GPS, Web and e mail capabilities and Media Player.  The phone comes with WCDMA and HSDPA connectivity and Blue tooth.

The Mirror II comes with a 2 Mega pixel camera with auto focus and VGA video recording and also a secondary video-call camera.  The phone has expandable memory of up to 8 GB with a micro SD card or a micro SDHC card.

The 107 x 49 x 15.9 millimeters phone weighs 118 gms and comes with a battery which can give stand-by time of up to 600 hours.  The talk-time of 220 minutes only, leaves much to be desired.

The phone would be available in Japan in August through SoftBank as SoftBank 824P.  The phone will be offered in five color versions of Midnight Purple, Deep Pink, Ruby Red, Champagne Gold and Crystal Silver.

Pantech Duo 810: the Latest Smart Phone through Telcel

Pantech Duo 810 is the latest Smart phone to be released in Mexico through Telcel, the largest mobile operator in Mexico. The phone is available through AT&T in the US markets.

Pantech Duo 810 is a dual sliding handset, with two keypads, one alpha-numeric and the other a full QWERTY keypad. This will prove to be very useful for those people who want to send a lot of text messages or e mails.

The Duo 810 runs on Windows Mobile 6.0. The features of this smart phone include a quad band GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE and dual-band HSDPA. The phone comes with global roaming which helps the users to access their e mail or just browse the Net in more than 135 countries and also enables voice communication in 190 countries through GPRS and EDGE.

The Pantech Duo 810 comes with a 2.2 inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 256K colors, Windows Media Player 10, Pocket Office for viewing and editing documents, Outlook e mail, Pocket Internet Explorer, Blue tooth with A2DP, USB and micro SD card support along with many other useful features.

The battery gives about 3 hours of talk-time or up to 240 hours of stand by time. The phone measures 102 x 50 x 19.9 millimeters, so it may appear a bit bulky but the dual sliding explains that.

The pricing in Mexico is not yet known, but the phone is available through AT&T in the US for $99 for a two-year contract agreement. It comes in two color versions of black and red.

Openmoko Neo FreeRunner: an open source mobile

The W.E. (works everywhere) Phone or also called a FreeRunner Open Source mobile phone is a product to be launched by distributors - such as Koolu - in the Americas, India and the EU. Koolu is a Canadian leading provider of environmentally friendly client solutions based on free and open source Linux software.

 

A touch screen smart phone, the Openmoko Neo FreeRunner is an open-source device which allows room for further software tweaking. As such it is first to be rolled out to developers, thereafter the phone in conjunction with Google Applications will be introduced in Koolu’s case via a referral program.

 

The phone benefits from a so-called “Free and Open Source Software” or FOSS which brings flexibility and represents a playground to system administrators who can customize the device for employees whilst gazetteers can improve their knowledge of handset software design.

This tri-band GSM Wi-Fi enabled phone weighs 185 grams, comes with a GPS and offers free VoIP calls. It features a 2.8” 480 x 640 VGA touchscreen, two 3-axis motion sensors like the iPhone, 128MB WSDRAM and 256MB NAND Flash.

Openmoko Neo FreeRunner sells for $399.00 in the U.S. and is expected to be launched in October in the UK. The company will announce availability in other regions of the world at LinuxWorld Expo in San Francisco, August 5-7, 2008
