Virgin Mobile USA has teamed up with Burger King Corp. and Warner Music Group to bring music-loving customers more of the tones they want — at a price that will make mouths water. For a limited time, Virgin Mobile USA is bringing the popular BK(TM) Value Menu concept to the mobile channel, delivering a selection of hot ringtones from artists like Mana and Flo Rida at $1.00 a pop.

The Virgin Mobile Ringtone Value Menu powered by BURGER KING(R) allows Virgin Mobile USA customers to choose from a list of available options via the VirginXL WAP deck or online at www.virginmobileusa.com for $1.00 each. The WMG artists featured were chosen to appeal to a wide range of music tastes and also include Buckcherry, Casa De Leones, Danity Kane, Estelle, War, Group 1 Crew, James Otto, Plies, and more.
“With prices going up on everything from gas to food, our customers are always looking for ways to save anywhere,” said Ron Faris, Director, Brand Development & Partnerships, Virgin Mobile USA. “Given that both Virgin Mobile and Burger King are committed to giving consumers value and choice for their dollar, this promotion is a perfect fit for our two brands.”
“We’re constantly looking for innovative ways to provide value and entertainment to our BURGER KING(R) guests,” explained Brian Gies, vice president of marketing impact, Burger King Corp. “The Virgin Mobile USA program provides us the opportunity to do both — offer customers popular music ringtones from major recording artists at a great price.”
“When the concept for an ad-supported ringtone promotion was first proposed, we jumped at the chance to participate with Virgin Mobile,” said Perry Bashkoff, Vice President, Digital Sales and Marketing, WEA Corp, WMG’s U.S. sales and retail marketing company. “We are always excited to experiment with our partners on new consumer offerings around our artists’ mobile products. Hopefully more advertisers will follow Burger King’s innovative lead so we can develop even more unique mobile music programs.”
The Virgin Mobile Ringtone Value Menu powered by BURGER KING(R) is the latest innovation for Virgin Mobile USA in the broader mobile advertising and branding arena. Together with Burger King Corp. and Warner Music Group, Virgin Mobile USA has added another layer to their ongoing efforts of bringing more value to their customers. The company has more than 700,000 customers using its highly successful Sugar Mama program, allowing customers to “earn airtime in their spare time” by viewing customized ads online sponsored by well-known brands including Levi Strauss and the U.S. Navy.
Burger King will be supporting marketing efforts for the promotion through sponsorship of WAP banner ads and SMS blasts to Virgin Mobile USA customers.

Beijing Olympics with 3G service

The third-generation (3G) mobile phone service is ready for use in the upcoming Beijing Olympics as the high-speed wireless connection service and related products were formally delivered on Monday.     China Mobile, China’s top wireless operator, and South Korean cell phone producer Samsung presented 15,000 3G handsets, plus data cards and nearly 3 million yuan (about 428,600 U.S. dollars) of calling fees, to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 29th Olympic Games here on Monday.

With the offer, work staff and volunteers of the Games can enjoy high-speed data transmissions, which allow them to watch televised games, play videos, and surf the Internet on cell phones.

The service is based on the Chinese 3G standard, known as TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access).

China Mobile has basically finished construction of the TD-SCDMA network in eight cities, five of which are to host events for the Beijing Olympics in August, including Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, said the company.

China has promised to provide 3G service for the Games. China Mobile is the sole cooperative partner for the Beijing Olympics in mobile communications services while Samsung is the only one in mobile terminal supply.

China Mobile started the commercial trials of 3G services in the country in April.

The International Telecommunication Union recognized TD-SCDMA as one of the world’s three official 3G standards in 2000. The other two are Europe’s WCDMA and North America’s CDMA 2000.

Nokia to provide live traffic information

Nokia and ARC Transistance, the European network of automobile clubs, announced today that they are working together to provide Real Time Traffic Information to users of Nokia mobile devices. Nokia will offer the service as a premium offering in Nokia Maps 2.0 and in future versions of Nokia Maps.
By adding RTTI, Nokia can save precious time for drivers by alerting them of traffic, construction or other road hazards that could affect their journey. When Nokia Maps receives the road updates from ARC Transistance, the application can dynamicly re-route during navigation and provide a faster route. This is a significant milestone for Nokia Maps, which makes navigation an even more compelling experience for Nokia device owners.
ARC Transistance Traffic Information services aggregate the real time road and traffic conditions of 16 countries in Europe, and growing. The leading navigation industry players also use the ARC Transistance Traffic Information services to enhance the routing guidance and navigation experience of their customers.
Nokia Maps turns mobile devices into local mapping and routing engines with a navigation option, providing worldwide mapping free of charge. In so doing, the unique hybrid solution combines the advantages of on-board and off-board navigation. Maps and location-aware content only need to be loaded once – they are then always available on the device.
Upgrading to the GPS navigation option enables your mobile to become a powerful connected personal navigation device, that provides clear, turn-by-turn visual and voice guidance. If your Nokia device does not have built-in GPS, you can also use an external GPS module with a compatible device. With vector maps provided by TeleAtlas and Navteq, Nokia Maps now has maps covering over 150 countries, with over 70 of them navigable.
The new version of Nokia Maps 2.0 for selected devices is available on the Nokia Beta Labs website: http://www.nokia.com/betalabs. Beta Labs shares some of the exciting new ideas that Nokia is working on and let users help shape their future development. A strong online community has developed around Beta Labs, attracting especially technology savvy, early adopter mobile enthusiasts. The current version of Nokia Maps and the Nokia Map Loader are freely available for download* for selected devices at http://www.nokia.com/maps.

Remote Desktop Access by Mobile phone

Filed under: latest mobile phone news — Tags: , — braz @ 3:23 pm

Gooer ( http://www.gooer.com/ ), a leading service provider of Remote Desktop solutions, announced the industry’s first mobile phone service that enables customers to access their remote PC using mobile phones or PDAs. Unlike other service providers, Gooer does not need the remote PC to have a public IP or route configuration. Customers can access their PC behind NAT or firewalls without any configuration to their network.
Gooer solutions is Java-based and supports all mobile phones and PDAs which can run Java. After installing and logging in, customers can “take over” the screen of their remote PC with their mobile phones.
Gooer also supports using web browsers (IE/Firefox) to access remote PCs. Laptop users can work at Starbucks or at home as if they were in the office, because they can get their whole desktop remotely.
Compared with VPN, Gooer solutions has 2 advantages. Customers do not need any hardware configuration before using it. For small companies with no IT people, but with employees who still want to access their PCs at home, Gooer solutions is much more convenient. With client PCs, the customer cannot connect to the local network and the remote network at the same time for VPN. However, Gooer has made it possible to let the Remote Desktop work in web browser. It has no impact on the client PC’s network.
